What are the common causes of blockage of the “AC40” series of electrode? How to avoid them?

1. Improper use of the electrode

The principle of the optimum distance between the electrode and the tissue when cutting is – like touch non-touch, cutting with orange-yellow plasma light, the tip electrode should not be too close to the tissue;

The distance between the electrode and the tissue is too close when cutting, and even the direct insertion of the electrode into the tissue is one of the main causes of the electrode blockage;

Secondly, cutting without cutting the side edge of the tip electrode but cutting the electrode surface with the electrode is also an important cause of clogging;

Correct use of the electrode;

Remember to cut with the side edge of the electrode when cutting, because the side edge of the electrode is the area where the plasma is generated, and the area directly contacting the blade surface produces less plasma;

When hemostasis, the entire electrode face should be pressed against the bleeding site for effective hemostasis.

2. Proper saline injection:

Saline is a key factor in the generation of plasma. The drip speed of saline and the synchronization with cutting and hemostasis directly affect the plasma production and efficacy.

Solutions:

Plasma high-frequency surgical treatment instrument – comes standard with “flow controller”, which solves the synchronization problem of saline instillation during cutting hemostasis, but the drip speed needs to be controlled by the “control valve” part of the infusion set to continue Produce “orange-purple plasma light”, and it is not suitable for the salt water in the surgical field to flow into the airway;

Plasma high-frequency surgical treatment instrument, it is best to choose a separate “flow controller”, or the synchronization of saline infusion during the operation with a person to cut the hemostasis. The drip speed is controlled as above.
